Spring brings change and new beginnings — and we’re carrying that seasonal theme on over to our Downtown Syracuse restaurant too! We’re excited to share with you some of the fresh changes that have come to The Tasting Room. From a whole new look, to new things to try, here’s what’s new:
A Fresh Look
The next time you walk through The Tasting Room doors, you may notice some changes to our interiors. We’ve completely revamped our furniture, with new chairs and beautiful new tables. Even our barstools have become “bar chairs”!
We’ve also added a new color of paint to a couple of the walls in the restaurant to add an exciting pop of color to the space. These aesthetic changes create a fresh and inviting look that we are loving.
But those aren’t the only aesthetic changes we’ve made. You also may notice some new (or possibly familiar) art on our walls.
Art by Craig Anderson
We're thrilled to announce that we've added paintings by award-winning watercolor artist Craig Anderson to our walls. His collections now adorn the walls, adding a vibrant touch to our space.
We’d done a temporary show with Craig’s art that we loved so much. So when he shared that he was looking for a permanent home for the art, we jumped at the chance!
Craig Anderson was born and raised in upstate New York before moving to San Diego in 1988. It was here that his art career was born and raised. He works primarily in transparent Watercolor but uses acrylics as well when it serves the subject. He is drawn to scenes and objects where light and dark work in tandem to create the potential for an impactful painting. He is drawn to subjects based on their inherent value, which is the contrast of light and dark, or perhaps the emotion and mood of the scene, and sometimes it is the gritty reality of life that speaks to him. Using bold value patterns, color or various textures, Craig allows the story of the painting to come to life.
Craig is an award-winning artist whose work is represented by private and corporate collections nationwide. He is a Signature member of San Diego Watercolor Society, California Watercolor Association, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and Central New York Watercolor Society. He has served as a juror in a number of art exhibitions and is in demand for live demonstrations and workshops.
After spending 35 years in San Diego, the Northeast has become Craig's muse once again, as he now lives and paints in Syracuse, New York. Here’s a link to his website to learn more about him and his work.
